From Tokyo we took the bullet train (Shinkanzen) to Kyoto, the former Imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. The shrine sits at the base of a mountain and behind it there are thousands of vermilion torii gates ⛩⛩⛩ forming a 4 km trail in a wooded forest up to the sacred Mount Inari. The hike to the top took us around 2 hours and was quite mystical in the morning lights✨😍

Walking into the Arashiyama Bamboo Groove is like entering another world - the thick green bamboo stalks seem to continue endlessly into every direction 🎋🎋🎋 The bamboo pillars stretch up to the sky, whispering back and forth in the wind illuminated in the soft light ✨ on a fresh Kyoto morning. The bamboos here were planted and taken care by the local monks.

En route from Japan to Vietnam we had to change flights in Taipei, Taiwan🇹🇼 Even though Taiwan was not on our itinerary we decided to have a 24-hour stopover in Taipei to see its popular sights.
Once we got to our hostel we came across Marc (@marcbegins), who had been living there and learning Chinese since a couple of months on his “extended sabbatical”. He gave us a crash-course on Taipei in terms of sights and mainly food-wise so after a joint dinner and a second dinner😁 we already decided to drop our flight and stay for 3 days to explore it. Oh boy, it was definitely worth it: such kind Taiwanese people and amazing food😋
Taipei 101 shot from Elephant Mountain, Taiwan’s landmark skyscraper, was the world’s tallest building (509 m / 1670 ft) between 2004 until the 2010 completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
Its pressurized elevators set a new record in 2004 with the fastest ascending speeds in the world at 60.6 kilometres (37.7 mi) per hour or 16.83 m (55.22 ft) per second😯

Riding our bikes around Hoi An, we came across this 82 years old lady in the Ancient Town selling bananas🍌 from baskets carrried on a stick on her shoulder. I cautiously pulled out my camera but when she saw it, she immediately started to pose like a real model and let us take several pictures of her. Afterwards, we were more than happy to buy some bananas from her at inflated prices 🙉😃

Hoi An is a very photogenic little city in Central Vietnam. Hoi An old town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Many of the buildings here are painted yellow providing not only a nice atmosphere but also some special backdrops for street photography😍

Sa Pa with its lush green rice terraces🌾🌾🌾 in the North was one the most awaited part of our Vietnam trip. We arrived quite late in the evening so it was already dark as our driver drove us from Sa Pa town to our accomodation that was in the valley. The clear night sky was full of star, we could hear the crickets and frogs from the rice paddies but we couldn’t see a thing as it was pitch black. Being there, in Sa Pa, was already a sort of magical feeling🤩 Looking into the valley and seeing nothing, we were wondering how it would look like the next day🤓
On the next day the view from our accomodation did not let us down. We arrived in Sa Pa😍
